Why do I continue Tae Kwon Do in my life?

I believe the main reason why TKD is continuing for me is because of the children. I work at a school and a child care center every day, so I’m with them all the time. I believe that all children can be in TKD. No one is singled out. Even for those who are challenged or have special needs. Sometimes it’s those children that rely on this structure. When I’m teaching forms, one-steps, board breaking, etc., I see the children trying and making an effort to learn them. They have attention and their eyes are focused to get the movements memorized. I know when they are struggling though, and lose focus, but we as instructors bring them back from daydreaming and to get them to focus again. They are a bundle of joy when I see their little faces light up when they break a board. Sometimes they surprise me when they tell me the meaning of their form. The children are absorbing all this Knowledge of Tae Kwon Do. When they work out they are improving in every class the physical techniques of the kicks, forms, etc. Most of them are persevering through every class. It is a great feeling to see that!

I’m also continuing TKD in my life to just keep learning and growing with it. Master Janney has taught everything I know about Tae Kwon Do. My health and energy towards it is still letting me to live through TKD. I want to have this mental and physical energy to keep on learning. Tae Kwon Do helps me to put aside strains of everyday life. All the sadness in the world, the children who suffer, even making sure my toes are painted (LOL) all go away for awhile because of Tae Kwon Do and so that I can do my job. Tae Kwon Do is my job. I want it to be a part of me. I know that in my mind, body, and soul it will be now and forever. I will never give up.

I would like to thank Master Janney for his hard work and dedication for our branch in West Liberty. Also, thank you to Master Engels for her leadership and opening a branch in Tipton. A thank you goes to all the Black Belt Masters during Saturday classes. Your kindness has been so helpful to achieve my goal. Most of all Thank You Grandmaster Jung for building this establishment!
