Temporary Black Belt
Edgewood
My life in Tae Kwon Do

The reason I started Tae Kwon Do was because my whole family was in it and because I thought it would be fun to meet new people. Now I have lots of friends in Tae Kwon Do.

I wish more people would join because before you know it you’re a black belt and you get to help people. I can hardly wait to be a black belt. I have been in Tae Kwon Do since I was four years old.  It has been hard but I have worked my way up all the way to a 1st permanent brown belt. When I first started I was a little scared but I met some really nice people. I have the best time with the people in Tae Kwon Do! It helped me because it a good exercise and makes me stronger.

My instructor, Master Robert McDowell is really nice and is trying to help me be a black belt like him. He’s been really trying and trying to help me. I know he gets frustrated because I have hard time focusing sometimes.
My favorite part about Tae Kwon Do is getting to help people to become a black belt and then they will get to help people too. I feel really good about myself when I am able to help someone or teach someone something new.

I have been in Tae Kwon Do for three and a half years. My two sisters are both first dan black belts and my mom is a third dan. My brother is also a first dan, but he has been busy with school sports.

I really have had a fun time in Tae Kwon Do so far. I hope I can grow up and be an instructor like Master Robert McDowell. Master McDowell has taught me so much. He has helped me to love Tae Kwon Do. I like doing demonstrations at my school, Edgewood-Colesburg Elementary. It is fun going in front of three hundred kids and their teachers and showing them what I can do. They are surprised that a “little girl” can break boards!
I have been working very hard to get ready for testing. I can’t wait to finally become a temporary black belt. When I was little I always wanted to join Tae Kwon Do instead of just watching. When I joined Tae Kwon Do it was hard to do the forms. Sometimes it is hard for me to focus and I get wiggly. I have to really practice hard on these things. It is hard to get a black belt it takes lots of practice. They say temporary test is the hardest test so I’m kind of nervous. I knew I had to practice hard and a lot. My best friend Emma is in Tae Kwon Do with me she is really fun! I want all my friends to join Tae Kwan Do because I think they will love, love, love it! Tae Kwon Do has also taught me to keep trying and never stop until I reach my goal. I would love to get a black belt like the rest of my family.
