Seth Macon--Temporary Black Belt

October 12, 2013

My TAE KWON DO Journey

Well, when I first walked into the dojo, I thought Tae Kwon Do would be fun and easy and it was. The reason I joined Toe Kwon Do is so I can be protect myself from strangers and how to defend myself. My instructor Master Bendickson taught me everything from white to 5th degree brown. She believed that I can become a black belt like her someday. She kept telling me to try as hard as I can and I believed her because I knew that I could reach to a black belt. Even though she works me hard a lot, I have trained to become a black belt because that is my goal and I want to become a black belt so I don't get bullied at school anymore, so I can prove that I am a strong person and I can stand up to other people. Everyone thinks I am weak and can't hang out with them, but I joined Tae Kwon Do so I can be a better person than what I am right now.

I have proved that I can use courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable-spirit in the dojo. At Tae Kwon Do, I have learned a lot of new things like learning new techniques for my board breaking and learning new forms so I can get better at them. I have studied all my strengths and weaknesses and now know what to do and what not do. My strength is my one step-sparring because i know all of them really good. My weakness is my free-sparring because i feel like I need to work on it a little more. I have fixed my stances in my forms, fixed my kicks in board breaking, and know what is missing in my free-sparring. I also practiced my terminology three times a day and I got a lot smarter.

I have read Master Jung's book called Eastern Spirits Western Dreams and I learned a lot of things in the book that could help with Tae Kwon Do for me. Yoga can help stretch you out for class. An apple kick can help show the skills and self-control through Martial Arts. I think it is great to know that Chuck Norris was in Martial Arts and was on the front cover of the Tae Kwon Do Times magazine. Running a lot can help your kicks get perfect. I thought the book was amazing because it seemed to get interesting about Master Jung and how he started Tae Kwon Do. It seemed like a pretty good book to read because I have learned a lot of things about Master Jung's life in Tae Kwon Do. I also learned that you can do free-style sparring. The book sounded like it had lots of information in it.

I am looking forward to continue practicing Tae Kwon Do because Tae Kwon Do is amazing and I am looking forward to seeing new people in Tae Kwon Do. Tae Kwon Do is awesome and I hope everyone will participate in it.
