Lily V. Aulwes--Temporary Black Belt

June 1, 2013
My Adventures in TKD
When I first started Tae Kwon Do I was scared of not being perfect. I wanted to be a black belt just like that. Despite my fears I went and tried it for the very first time. I was very nervous that I wouldn't do a good job and of course I started to cry. Then I quit but I came back, but I quit again and I did that once more and quit again. Then one day my mom asked if I wanted to try again so I said I would but only if my friend Allison did. I asked her if she wanted to come and try Tae Kwon Do and she agreed. When I returned to Tae Kwon Do I had Allison at my side and we have stuck with it ever since. I am excited to be testing for my temporary black belt with my best friend.

Last year about this time I went to Colorado and went to Grand Master Jung's cabin, and I got to know Grand Master Jung and so many others like Mrs. Pearson. Now I know Mrs. Pearson a lot better, and I'm not afraid of talking to her or Grand Master Jung anymore. Mrs. Pearson has become a great support system for me at testing. I always know I can count on her to be standing along the wall when I test, silently cheering me on. My favorite part of when I went to Colorado was cleaning up the cabin and doing forms on bear rock. Ever since Colorado we have been Edgewood Gangsters. I really enjoyed going to Colorado and I hope to go back at least one more time.

I really enjoy doing Tae Kwon Do with my family. I'm glad that my family is in Tae Kwon Do because my mom and my brother are black belts. My younger sister, Claire, is a second temporary brown belt and my sister, Ella, and I are testing for our temporary black belts together. My sister, Kayla, earned her blue belt before she went away to college. We all are different belts, and we all are better at one thing or another so we help each other. We all work together.

I use Tae Kwon Do outside of class. I use the tenets of Tae Kwon Do every day. I am COURTEOUS to my classmates and other kids or adults. I show INTEGRITY. I am honest and trustworthy. My friends know they can count on me. I have to show PERSERVANCE while doing hard things. I use this a lot while doing many things because I am very emotional. I use SELF CONTROL when I am kicking or throwing a punch. I have INDOMINAL SPIRIT because I keep a positive attitude even when I am struggling with something. I use all these in and out of Tae Kwon Do.
I have always loved Tae Kwon Do. Because I'm still young, I will try to get the highest belt I can. My goal is to become a Master. I try to go to Tae Kwon Do all the chances I get, but with ball it's kind of hard but I still fit it in. I have really enjoyed being a brown belt, but I think it is time for a better belt, my Black belt. I LOVE TAE KWON DO!
